Where we are going....

The overarching strategic objectives for YMCA Central Herts 2009-2013 are as follows:

1. Housing

  • Develop a range of affordable supported housing for the most vulnerable across Central Herts helping move people towards independent living

2. Children’s Work

  • Develop a range of affordable, quality, accessible services for children, young people and families across Central Herts meeting the needs of our communities

3. Youth Work

  • Pioneer new projects and initiatives for young people, providing positive activities and outcomes, acting as a catalyst for change and making new ideas for young people happen in local communities across Central Hertfordshire

4. People / Human Resources

  • Support the whole organisation in achieving its strategic aims and objectives by creating an attractive, supportive and equitable working environment which recognises and maximises the potential of all people

5. Personal Development

  • Provide opportunities for everyone to develop in body, mind and spirit

6. International

  • Promote a sense of belonging to a wider global community by providing a range of cross-cultural experiences that are not just of benefit to a specific project, but a true learning and developing opportunity for all who participate (to receive as well as to give)
  • Think globally and act at a local level in respect of international need within the third world

7. Christian faith

  • Provide a wide range of opportunities for people to journey with us as we explore and develop our faith in a safe and supportive environment
  • Encourage the reflection of Christian values in all activities undertaken by the YMCA

8. Financial

  • Strengthen our financial position by developing and maintaining strong financial systems, diversifying our funding streams and investing in fundraising in order to resource our expanding work

9. Profile

  • Build effective relationships with key local influencers to enable us to influence policy and strategic direction of areas and programmes relevant to our work
  • Maintain and develop our positive profile in the local community

10. Governance

  • Ensure we are governed, led and managed in accordance with the highest possible standards and in an open and transparent manner
