Sandra's Story

When Sandra, aged 29, arrived at Space her self-esteem had taken a few knocks. She had been made redundant from her office job 18 months before and was unable to find permanent work. All this had left her feeling depressed.

The Space Team gave Sandra the opportunity to join them as a volunteer for two mornings a week. Her warmth and enthusiasm were recognised and she was given the opportunity to volunteer at the YMCA After School Club. This made Sandra realise her passion for youth work and gave her the confidence to enrol on a counselling course. Having completed this she has recently been offered a job as a Youth Worker.
