Investing for the future
We have used our reserves to fund the start up costs of some new activities, which will provide us with additional future income streams. This includes a new nursery in Hatfield, investment in fundraising and development of our own shops strategy. This is particularly important in the current economic climate which may see significant reduction in statutory funding.

Balance sheet
You will note that YMCA Central Herts has Net assets of £1.1m, however the land and building for our Peartree Lane site are valued at £2.3m above their book value. Our reserves have reduced over the last 2 years as we have invested in new activities but we plan to retain a small surplus this year.
