YMCA Computing

YMCA Computing is available and open to anyone wanting to improve and update their computer skills. It also offers job-skills and support for people who are looking to return to work.

Developed in partnership with Oaklands College, YMCA Training and the Local Authority. Most classes are run held at the Computer Suite at Peartree Lane - but some are taught through our YMCA Space Community Centres.

The YMCA run a variety of beginners computer courses to support people as they acquire new skills

Click on a course title to see a video guide. Typical courses last an hour a week for four weeks and include:

  • New to using computers? Then why not join one of our beginners' workshops? Try Mouse & Keyboard skills, Computers for Absolute Beginners, E-mailing for Beginners, Internet for Beginners
  • Microsoft Office courses
  • Word Level 1 - new to Word processing and want to learn more? 
  • Excel Level 1 - learn more about using spreadsheets for budgeting and home banking, layouts, adding formulas and making charts/graphs
  • Word Level 2 and Excel Level 2 - build on and develop your skills

With new courses starting every four weeks find out what is available to you. For Refresher and Intermediate Workshops there is no need to book, just turn up on the day!
