The post for which you are applying involves working with children, young people and/or vulnerable adults, therefore you are required to give all details of any criminal record including spent or unspent convictions, cautions or warnings. The Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 sets out to help people who have been convicted of a criminal offence and have not been convicted again in a specified period. Once a conviction is spent, the convicted person usually does not have to reveal it or admit its existence; however as you will be working directly or indirectly with children, young people and/or vulnerable adults you must disclose it. If you are made an offer of employment you will then be required to complete a CRB form for an ENHANCED CRB. If you have not disclosed all spent, unspent convictions, cautions and warnings which later appear on your CRB this may be considered as dishonesty or as an act of Gross Misconduct and therefore lead to the Disciplinary and Grievance Procedure which may lead to your dismissal. If you are a volunteer you may be prohibited from working in any area of the YMCA Central Herts.
